8. Karate goes beyond the dojo
Many times we look at karate as something we do for 2hrs a day in class and forget about its use in our lives outside the dojo. The fact is from you first class to your last breath karate has became a part of your life. How much you want to include it is up to you.
The rules and lessons learned in the dojo as a student, a teacher or just a general observer can more often than not be applied to our everyday trials and situations we may face. I go back to the Dojo Jun when in doubt and those five simple rules if followed by everyone would make the world such a better place.
Very few people who start karate do it there entire life only a few of us try to make it apart of our lives daily because we understand it can better us. If I am in school, on vacation on the football field there are few hours that past that karate and karate training are not in my mind. (trying to seek that perfection in character)
Respect, discipline, obeying commands, manners, working hard, and self confidence are just f few things karate does for us.
This Kun ties into many other of the Niju Kun but is so simple karate never leave us we leave it. Yes it does have religious message in that line of thinking. Think of the famous poem Footsteps. Like God Karate does not leave you in hard tames it carries you though them.
